About i love blue sea

Ahoy! I'm Martin and I started i love blue sea out of necessity. After moving away from the coast I was depressed by the lackluster seafood offerings at the markets and started looking for ways to get seafood ‘fresh enough to eat raw’. Everyone had a limited selection of poor quality seafood and were charging exorbitant prices for it. Worst of all markets were selling fish like bluefin tuna, an endangered species!

While researching, I learned that the seafood industry as a whole is in serious trouble. Over 90% of the large predatory fish such as shark, swordfish and cod have been fished out of the ocean. Unless we start eating seafood that is abundant, well-managed and caught or farmed in environmentally friendly ways, we’ll have to tell our grandkids what fishing was like. Not cool!

One of the difficult things about eating sustainable seafood is figuring out where it came from and how it was caught. Opened March 15, 2010 i love blue sea tells you exactly this and sells only seafood that is approved by the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Greenpeace.. So feel free to buy anything on our site – it’s all good!
