Sustainably Sourced

Arctic char is a salmonid, making it a “cousin” of the beloved salmon and also displaying beautiful pink meat. Arctic char consumed in the U.S. are produced by aquaculture (farmed). These fish are raised predominantly in land-based, closed systems with recirculating water systems. This minimizes the risk of escape of farmed fish to the wild, as well as greatly reduces the risk of pollution, disease and parasite transfer from farmed fish to wild fish. Although some fishmeal and fish oil is used to feed Arctic Char, the ratio of wild fish used to farmed fish grown is much lower than other species of farmed salmonids.
