Fish fry batters are usually 3-4 ingredients, and easily customizable with your favorite seasonings. Our favorites include pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, and oregano.
Alter the wet and dry ingredients to get the consistency you want (thicker batter will form a thicker crust once the fish is fried).
Standard Batter Combinations:
- Flour, salt, water
- Flour, milk, egg
- Flour, milk, water, baking powder, salt
- Flour, salt, oil, eggs, beer
- Pancake mix, water
- Cornmeal, flour, milk, egg, sugar
Fry It Up!
For both pan frying and deep frying, cook in hot oil until all sides are golden brown. Cool on paper towels to remove excess oil, and serve warm.
