Labor Day Seafood Special

What is Labor Day?  What does Labor Day even mean or symbolize?

Labor Day was a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.  It was created a long, long time ago (at least on an American history timeline).  Only three decades earlier, billions of Olympia Oysters were being cultivated in the San Francisco Bay before it became too polluted to grow oysters.  Imagine such a time!  Many also feel Labor Day was created as a national holiday by President Grover Cleveland in 1885 to mitigate the animosity and deaths caused from the labor movement.  However you slice it, Labor Day is here to stay!

How are we supposed to celebrate Labor Day?  The initial proposal of the holiday, in 1882, states, "a street parade to exhibit to the public the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families."

mmmmm...ceviche

This Labor Day, let's celebrate the hard work of fisherman that are not over-fishing our oceans, destroying the environment by their catch method, or committing fraud by saying their catch is pole and line when it's really caught long line.  By purchasing our Labor Day Seafood Special, you will be celebrating good fisherman.  We ship out your sustainable seafood on Thursday to pull into dock (your home or office) on Friday.  Just in time to set in the fridge to enjoy any time this three-day weekend.
