Our beautifully fresh tai snapper hail from the well-managed fisheries off the coast of New Zealand. It is lean and moist, with a sweet, mild, distinctive flavor. Tai is associated with the Japanese word, "medetai", symbolizing an auspicious event - so be sure to have at least one on hand for your next celebration!!
Sustainably Sourced
Tai snapper are caught using a bottom longline. This method involves a series of hooks strung along a fishing line with weights attached, so that it sinks to the seafloor once deployed from the fishing vessel. This method has a less severe impact on ocean habitats and is relatively selective for the target species and generally results in minimal bycatch of other species. However, there is no data on types of bycatch and the amounts discarded in the Tai Snapper fishery, causing some concern.
