How does shipping work?

Simply! At least on your end.

We offer free standard overnight shipping, with no order minimums. If you need your seafood delivered earlier in the morning, there might be a small fee for priority shipping. As you order, you will be able to see all your shipping options.

Seafood ships direct to you from over 20 seafood producers around the US. We currently ship to the Lower 48 states. Orders are shipped via Fedex, and can be placed a few weeks in advance. The day your order is packed, you will receive a shipping confirmation email that afternoon or evening with a tracking number.

We monitor all shipments to ensure they arrive on-time but weather patterns and FedEx are occasionally impervious our magical powers. If there are any issues, we will email you to arrange a different delivery date or arrange a replacement order.

What if I can't be home when Fedex delivers?

If you know you won't be home to meet your seafood, you have several options.

  1. Consider having Fedex deliver to your work or other commercial address.
  2. Call Fedex once you get your shipping confirmation email with tracking number, and either authorize the driver to leave it at your door, or arrange to pick it up at the station closest to you.
How do I store my seafood?

Most importantly, never let your seafood stay out for too long. Once you receive your package, be sure to put everything in your refrigerator or freezer as soon as possible and eat as soon as possible for the best quality. To maximize freshness and lifespan, read on..

Refrigerating Fish   Place fish in the coldest part of your refrigerator - often the bottom crisper. To maintain the freshness, you can make an awesome seafood storage container out of tupperware.

Refrigerating Shellfish   Fresh Shellfish needs to be kept alive, do not store them in airtight containers. Place in the refrigerator covered with damp paper towels or cloth to keep them nice and moist.

Freezing Fish   Place in the coldest part of your freezer allowing as much surface area as possible to be exposed to cold air. To thaw, place fish in a covered pan in the refrigerator for 24 hours. To thaw quickly, place product in a watertight bag into a sink with cool running water for 30 minutes per pound.

Freezing Shellfish   Not recommended unless you have a commercial freezer - you need to freeze below 0° Fahrenheit. Remove shellfish from shell and immediately place them in a shallow waterproof container. Freeze for up to 1 month. Before use, allow to completely thaw in the refrigerator.

Can I order less than the minimum?

Our seafood producers determine the quantities we sell on our site. If the amount is more than you can eat on your own, split an order with coworkers or neighbors, invite some friends over to enjoy with you, make a few meals out of it over the course of a week, or freeze some for later!

What does sustainable even mean?

"Sustainability" means a lot of different things—for seafood there is no unifying definition. To us sustainable seafood means that the population of the species is healthy, well managed and farmed or caught in an environmentally friendly way. We are constantly monitoring every product we sell to ensure that your purchase is supporting those fishermen that are responsible stewards of the sea. We follow the guidelines established by the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program. Take a look at our producers and you will see mostly smaller, family-owned companies operating entirely in the U.S.

I don't see the seafood I want on your site..

We add new seafood producers to our site several times a year. If there is a kind of seafood you want, let us know and we'll put it on our wishlist.

There are many reasons for why the product you're looking for is not on our site. Our foremost priority is sustainability. We are constantly finding and adding new producers who harvest their seafood with care for the animal and the oceans. Take a look around and see what catches your eye. Let us know if you'd like any recommendations -- we taste test everything!
