Sustainable Seafood Recommendations
Arctic Char

Seafood is one of the healthiest foods you can eat... if you eat the right kind. We make it easy by curating the freshest, healthiest and most sustainable seafood options available. Whether you’re new to seafood or a seasoned vet, here are some suggestions to get you started.

If you like salmon… you’re certain to love our arctic char. Arctic char is a delicate, red-fleshed relative of salmon that is similar in texture and a little more mild in taste. It tastes amazing and is great sashimi style or cooked.

Spicy Tataki Tuna

If you like tuna… fear not, we have it. It’s true that we don’t offer bluefin tuna due to environmental and health concerns, but we are proud to showcase some of the highest quality and most sustainable tuna in the world with our albacore tunas. These delicious fish allow us to indulge our desires for the firm, supple meat of tuna without damaging the ecosystem. Albacore is light in color with a creamy, buttery taste; skipjack is dark and firm, with an unmistakable wild-caught flavor that echoes the vitality of this energetic and muscular fish. Both are traditional sushi items and come highly recommended. We also recently added yellowfin tuna (ahi) and you can read all about our decision on our blog.

Oysters

If you like oysters or want to try for the first time… our Kumamotos and Kusshis are amazing. Rich in flavor, smooth, buttery texture, and a sweet, slightly fruity flavor that is not very salty. After that, try them all! Much like wine, oysters take on a taste and texture based on their terroir – the area in which they live.

If you’re new to fish, it’s probably best to start with cooked items first and try what you know. After that you can expand your horizons. Shrimp, scallops and tilapia are a great starting point.

If you’re a seasoned vet, start experimenting with things you’ve never tried before! Different types of oysters and clams, new types of fish, new recipes for the same fish… Get creative! Try some old favorites from lower on the food chain, like sardines! And for you real sushi hounds, there’s always uni…!

If you want to impress the ladies (or fellows)… try the oysters, Casanova. Nothing says ‘I can tie a knot in a cherry stem’ like shucking some oysters together in a candlelit room to the smooth sounds of Barry Manilow. Ahh, the timeless art of seduction…

If you don’t like seafood… then good for you checking out this site! It shows that you’re determined to overcome your culinary shortcomings. But don’t be too hard on yourself - you likely just haven’t had seafood this fresh before. Get ready because we’re going rock your world.
